What 3 Months Taught Me About Energy, Consistency & Starting Again
Three months doesn't sound like a very long time. But sometimes, it's enough to remind you what you're capable of.
When I decided to start the FitLine Shape Challenge, I wasn't trying to become a different person. I wanted to feel stronger, have more energy, and get back to feeling like myself.
I had already learned that health can change quickly. My own journey took me from a hospital bed back to hiking trails, running, traveling and saying yes to things I once wasn't sure I'd be able to do again.
The Shape Challenge became another chapter in that journey.
Then, just one day after starting the challenge, I broke my wrist while ice skating.
Suddenly, the three months I had planned looked very different. Surgery, recovery and physical therapy weren't exactly part of the plan — but quitting didn't have to be either.
The day the plan changed.
Sometimes starting again looks different than you imagined.
I couldn't do everything I normally would, so I focused on what I could do.
I didn't need perfection. I needed consistency.
For three months, I focused on the things I could repeat: moving my body in the ways I could, paying attention to my nutrition, creating a routine and showing up again the next day.
Working with what I could do — and continuing to show up.
Some days were great. Some weren't. That's real life.
What surprised me most was that the small choices started adding up.
By the end of six weeks — halfway through the three-month challenge, I had lost 15 lb (6.8 kg), 4 inches (10 cm) from my waist, and 3 inches (7.5 cm) from my hips.
Six weeks. Small choices, repeated consistently.
And then came something I hadn't expected: I was selected as a finalist in the FitLine Shape Challenge.
I was incredibly proud of the physical results, but they weren't the biggest thing I took away from the experience.
Three months later — stronger, happier and back in shape.
Energy changes what feels possible.
When I feel good, I move more. When I move more, I feel stronger. When I feel stronger, I'm more willing to try something that scares me a little—a longer hike, another run, a new goal.
That's why I don't believe wellness is about becoming somebody else.
People sometimes tell me, “I could never do what you do. I'm not disciplined. I'm not a runner.”
But I don't want anyone to become me.
I want you to discover what makes YOU feel alive, strong and capable.
Your mountain doesn't have to look like mine.
Maybe it's sleeping better. Maybe it's having enough energy left at the end of the day to go for a walk. Maybe it's getting stronger, running your first 5K, traveling somewhere you've always wanted to go—or simply feeling more like yourself again.
Start there.
Start small. Stay curious. And give yourself enough time to see what can change.
Find your energy. Move your mountains.
